the hottest summer for many years, which presented a few challenges, we
passed through a beautiful autumn and are now staring down both
barrels of winter. Hopefully not quite as wet as last year!
Having, of course, finished all our garden chores, we can now sit back
in front of the fire, put our feet up, and wait for spring.
Well, that might be true for some folk, but not the hardy gardeners of
Shillingstone who I’m sure are relishing the thought of getting to
grips with a new crop of slugs and bugs in 2019
the time this has been published in the Parish Magazine we will have
had our AGM on the 20th of November and for those who couldn’t
attend I would like to thank on behalf of all the club members
the three long standing committee members who retired this year:
Jenny Coot, Brenda Watts and Pat Marshall, hearty thanks
for the hard work they have put in to ensure that we have a happy
and healthy club. It is also comforting to know that new committee
members have stepped forward to take their places, thus ensuring
a club to be proud of. The events calendar for 2019 should be
finalised by the December meeting on the 18th. Coming up at
7.30 pm on the 18th December at the Portman Hall will be a pictorial
display of the years events with some Christmas Fare and possibly
a glass of seasonal refreshment. Then at 7.30pm on the 15th
January will be a short, light-hearted talk on “Garden Ponds for
Wildlife” by the chairman. New members are welcome.
