The Club”s last outing was on 13th September, when 20 members and guests had a most enjoyable visit to Abbotsbury Subtropical gardens. Abbotsbury benefits from its site in a sheltered valley with all round interest. We were treated to a magnificent display of hydrangeas in every shade imaginable. The benefits of judicious watering during the heat of summer has been rewarded with superb succulents. Added attractions were the panoramic views of Chesil beach and the Fleet from  the top of the Magnolia  Walk and the challenge of the Burmese Rope Bridge!.

The club’s autumn programme continues on 16th October with an illustrated talk on Fungi by James Feaver, the author of Hedgerow Harvest. James will share his enthusiasm and tips for foraging and truffle hunting in Dorset!. Usual time of 7-30pm in the Portman Hall.

The meeting on 20th November will be the AGM, note the earlier start time of 7pm, the Quiz will then follow. Several committee members will be retiring, so do please think about joining our committee to help bring new ideas to our club programme and outings. Our chair, Tim Kennard will be more than happy to answer any questions. His phone number is 963771.
